When we hear about the latest, greatest entertainment binge these days, it’s usually television. The Bear. The White Lotus. Real Housewives of Spokane.
Just kidding on that last one, but you get my drift…
But for me, however, the ultimate OG “binge” has always involved a really good novel. The bests ones where you’re like “just one more chapter…even if my eyes will barely stay open because I have to know what happens.”
Lately, it’s been a host of delicious thrillers that have caused a frenzy of page turning. You know the carefully plotted stories where you can’t wait for the BIG TWIST reveal. The Whodunit. The underlying motivation for whatever terrible thing kickstarted the madness in the first place.
But this past week, it’s been Suzanne Rindell’s Summer Fridays that has me wondering what exactly will happen to our leads. I have about 20 pages left and don’t want the story to end. I love the setting, the 90’s AOL, Doc Marten nostalgia, the unconventional trajectories of the characters. In short, I’ll be a little sad when this round of binge reading ends, but ultimately, happy about the journey.
How about you, fellow readers? What novel has been your OG binge of choice and why?
